Gas absorption heat pumps (GAHPs) / Gas powered heat pumps

Traditionally heating and hot water is provided by gas boilers or by electric heat pumps or by a gas engine.  Gas absorption heat pumps offer a more energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly and cost-saving alternative. These gas powered heat pumps offer greater flexibility and modularity and lower maintenance costs than a gas engine.

Gas absorption heat pumps use a gas burner for the refrigeration cycle. This uses the natural energy from the air, from water or from the ground to cool or heat a building or to provide hot water.

Gas powered heat pumps are highly efficient systems that deliver a low impact to the environment. Many can be installed outdoors, thus saving space, and they all have a low electric consumption. They can improve the energy efficiency class of a building and have low running costs.

Heating Only GAHPs

There are three types of gas absorption heat pump for heating only: air source, ground source and water source.

Air Source GAHPs

Air source gas absorption heat pumps are ideal for heating and domestic hot water (DHW) production in residential, industrial, commercial, accommodation and tertiary utilities. They are meant for outside installation and can be used for upgrading or integrating existing systems.

Ground Source GAHPs

Ground source gas absorption heat pumps are ideal for heating industrial, commercial, accommodation and tertiary utilities in geothermal applications. They can be installed either outdoors or indoors and can to supply cooling as free-cooling mode (unit off) or in geothermal applications with active cooling (unit on).

Water Source GAHPs

For heating and cooling, water source gas absorption heat pumps are ideal for heating and domestic hot water (DHW) production plus pre-heating of domestic hot water in summer in cooling operation, for example swimming pools. They can be used for new buildings as well as for refurbishment and retrofitting.  They give efficient simultaneous production of hot and cold water, ideal for hospitals, manufacturing plants and liquid-ring-based air conditioning systems.

Heating and Cooling GAHPs

Heating and cooling gas absorption heat pumps are ideal for heating and cooling industrial, commercial, accommodation and tertiary utilities. They are meant for outdoor installation and, on request, can be pre-assembled as links with the same units or with other units.

Gitié Trivalent Systems

Gitié Trivalent Systems combine an air-source absorption heat pump and the condensing boiler, and is powered by natural gas. They are integrated outdoor systems that can provide heating, hot water up to 80 °C, and cooling.

Condensing Gas Heaters

Robur condensing gas heaters combine high efficiency with energy savings. They bring greater comfort thanks to the automatically modulated flame and ventilation.
